Book Review: Catching Fire

Here is my review on book 2 of The Hunger Games, Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins:

At the start of Catching Fire, they talk a lot about Katniss and Peeta's lives in Victors Village. That is where the winners of the Hunger Games live. Katniss' only neighbors were Peeta and Haymitch. Then, President Snow makes an announcement. The victors will compete against each other in the Quarter Quell. Next, they got new peacekeepers. Peacekeepers were the people who made sure that all citizens of Panem follow the rules of the Capitol. The new head peacekeeper whipped Gale because he found out about Gale hunting illegally. He almost bled to death from the whipping.

Most of the arena was water. Instead of the weapons and supplies being in the Cornucopia like usual, they were in a pile on a mountain. Katniss was allies with Peeta, Finnick, and Mags. There was a force field in the arena. Peeta ran into it. He was dead for awhile. Then, Finnick brought Peeta back to life with mouth to mouth. Next, a deadly fog came. Katniss and Finnick could not carry both Mags and Peeta, so Mags ran into the fog to death. Later in the games, they added Johanna, Wiress, and Beetee to their alliance. Wiress realized that the arena was a clock. There was the fog, the big wave, the monkey attack, and other things that happened at the same time every day. Then Wiress died. After that, Peeta, Katniss, Finnick, Beetee, Johanna, Enobaria, and Brutus were rescued by Plutarch and Haymitch. Then, the part that happened at the end shocked me, especially the last sentence. Peeta and some of the others were captured by the Capitol. In the last sentence, Gale said, "There is no more District 12" to Katniss.

I rate this book an A+ and it is by far the best book of the three in the Hunger Games trilogy.

Drop Everything And Read Day-2012

Today is national Drop Everything And Read day. It is to celebrate Beverly Cleary's birthday. In Ramona Quimby, Age 8, Ramona's class has D.E.A.R. In that half an hour, they can read whatever they want. First, I finished Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins. That is the second book of The Hunger Games series. Then, I started Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins. That is the third and final book of The Hunger Games trilogy.

The Hunger Games: Movie Review

Last weekend I saw the Hunger Games. It is one of the best movies I have ever seen. It is based on the book trilogy. This is about the first book. That is the book that I'm reading right now. I'm about halfway done with it.

Here is my review:

The Hunger Games is about a country called Panem. There are twelve districts. The thirteenth was destroyed. Because of the war that made the districts, they made the Hunger Games for revenge. Prim Everdeem was called to be in the Hunger Games as the girl. Each district has to have a raffle for who will be in it unless someone volunteers. No one wants to be in it. You have to be 12-18 years old to be in the raffle. Because Katniss Everdeem does not want her sister in it she volunteers. The boy who is chosen is Peeta Mellark.

They have a mentor, Haymitch. He won it a long time ago. He is one of the only two people ever who have won for District 12. Also, they have someone named Effie who doesn't do that much to help them. They also have stylists. Katniss' is named Cinna. Peeta's is named Portia. Peeta has had a crush on her for a long time. Find out what happens in the games by reading the books or seeing the movie.

Here is a list of the most important characters:

1. Katniss

2. Peeta

3. Haymitch

4. Cinna

5. Effie

6. Prim

7. Gale

8. Rue

9. Prim and Katniss' mother

10. Cato

11. Portia

I give this movie an A+ and recommend that you read the book and watch the movie.
