What is it like in the desert?

Last spring break, I got to see what life is like in the desert. A lot of people think that there are many cactus in the desert, but I was there for two days, and I only saw about fifty cactus. At the bottom you will be able to see a picture of a very pretty cactus.

The desert that I went to is called Palm Springs. I went there to visit my grandparents while my parents went to a hotel. The place where my grandparents live is very interesting because to live there you need to be a senior citizen. Right when I got there, we saw my grandma and grandpa's rental house because they have only lived there for a few months, and they moved into their house on a Tuesday, but I left at about noon on a Monday. Then, we saw their new house. Next, we went went swimming. We had to leave a little bit before three because kids where only allowed to be in the community pool until three. After going swimming, we went to the movies. We saw Kung Fu Panda 2. Then, we went to have ice cream for dinner. I had cookies and cream ice cream. Next, I went to bed.

The next day, we went to McDonalds for breakfast. I had a McGriddle with bacon, egg, cheese and the bread was French toast with syrup made inside of it. Next, we went to a place where you can buy things and there are a lot of vendors set up. It is called a flee market. Sadly, they closed right when we got there. Then, we went to the dollar store. I got a box of 48 crayons, 200 index cards, 36 fake coins, 10 tootsie roll pops, and something else. After the dollar store, we went swimming. Next, we went putting on a golf course. It was very fun and my first time putting in my life, I think. Then, we went to dinner at Stuffed Pizza. The pasta was very good. After Stuffed Pizza, we went back to the putting course. I started a game with my sister, but she went back to my grandma, away from the golf course after the seventh hole. Then, I went to sleep.

On my final day, we went out for breakfast. My sister and I each ordered chocolate chip pancakes with Ice Cream. Next, we went golfing. It was a putting course, and not a real golfing course. Each hole was Par 3. That means that if you get three it does not affect your score, if you get two you get -1, and if you get four you get +1. I beat my sister +31 to +82. Sadly, we had to leave after that. I hope that we go back to the desert soon.

Here is a picture of a cactus I saw in Palm Springs:

Have you ever been to a desert? Which one?
Have you ever played golf? What was your score?

Dear Jaden,

What an action packed trip you had to Palm Springs!

I go to Palm Springs pretty often because my husband's parents, my in-laws, live there. It is always so beautiful in a desert kind of way!

One time, we visited the Living Desert. It is a great animal park where you can see all kinds of animals. They even have some giraffes! Have you been?

@ Mrs. Yollis,

Thank you for commenting on my blog!

I have not been to the Living Desert yet, but next time we go we are probably going to go early so we can feed the giraffes. How many different animals do they have? What are some of the other animals they had?

Sincerely,
Jaden

Hi Jaden,

I found your blog on the Edublogs student challenge. I live in a desert. It's the Sonoran Desert. We have cacti, lots of desert bushes, and interesting animals. We have coyotes. I saw one on Tuesday crossing the road. There's lots of bugs like scorpions and tarantulas. There are javalina. I saw one on a golf course. There are lots of golf areas here.

Ethan

@ Miss. W,

I checked the post and I am going to leave comments on 9 year old's blogs later today. Also, I probably am going to get subscribed by email starting next week. Is this the 7th year of the blogging challenge or the 7th one? I am looking forward to the rest of the challenge, and hope you are too!

Jaden

What state is the Sonoran Desert in? I've never heard of javalina. What are they? Their are a lot of miniature golf courses here. Have you miniature golfed before?

Hi Jaden,

The Sonoran desert is in AZ, USA. Javalinas are wild pigs. I have miniature golfed before. What wild animals live near you?
